Grade 12 • Phase 2, Unit S2: Real Client Work • Lesson 20 of 43 • 1 Day

Delivery & Installation: Getting Work Into the Building

🗓️ Before Class: Teacher Prep

🖥️ Slide Deck (project or share with students)

Short, on-the-board pacing slides for today's Do Now, agenda, vocabulary, and exit ticket -- the full detail lives in the handout above, not here.

🧑‍🏫 Substitute Teacher Guide

A scripted, step-by-step runsheet for today's class -- hand this to anyone covering the room who doesn't know the daily routine.

This is a real client, not a hypothetical one

Treat every request the same way a professional studio would treat a paying client: confirm the brief, communicate proactively, and get sign-off before production. The staff member's satisfaction is part of the grade.

🎯 Essential Question

📈 Learning Objectives

By the end of this lesson (1 Day), students will be able to:

  1. Coordinate with the requesting staff member on where and how a finished piece will be installed or used.
  2. Physically deliver or install a finished piece (hang a poster, hand off a print, publish a video).
  3. Confirm with the client that the delivered work meets their original need.

📐 Standards Alignment

CDOS (Career Development & Occupational Studies)

Industry Standards (CCTC)

📚 Key Vocabulary

Installation
Physically placing a finished design where it will actually be seen or used.
Delivery Confirmation
Verifying with the client that they've received the work and it meets their need.

🧰 Materials & Tools

🧠 Do Now (Warm-Up)

What could go wrong between a design being 'finished' and it actually being useful to the person who requested it?

📋 Main Workshop / Lesson Sequence

  1. Do Now (5 min, above): what could go wrong between 'finished' and 'actually useful'?
  2. Coordinate: confirm with the client exactly where/how the piece should be installed or delivered (10 min).
  3. Deliver/install: physically install or hand off the finished piece (20 min, varies by job).
  4. Confirm: check in with the client that the delivered work meets their original need, and log any final notes (10 min).

✅ Assessment & Exit Ticket

Delivery confirmed directly with the requesting client; any final notes logged for the archive.

Exit Ticket: Did the client's original need actually get met? How do you know?

📊 Pull up the anonymous Class Check-In for students to fill out before they go.

🧩 Differentiation & Accommodations

English Language Learners: model every step live, then check in one-on-one; provide translated materials and vocabulary support as needed. Students with IEPs: apply the accommodations and modifications listed in each student's plan (examples include extended time, graphic organizers, speech-to-text tools, chunked instructions, and visual schedules). Students with attention-related needs: break tasks into short, checklist-driven steps and provide brief movement or focus breaks. Students ready for a challenge: take on a leadership role critiquing peers' work, extend the project with a second iteration, or research how today's skill is used professionally in the field.
