Grade 12 • Phase 2, Unit S2: Real Client Work • Lesson 16 of 43 • 2 Days

Client Approval & Revision Loop

😄 Joke of the day: What's a typographer's favorite drink? Anything with good leading.

⏰ Do Now — Start Here

How would you professionally respond if a staff client said, "I don't like it, make it better" with no other details?

This is a real client, not a hypothetical one

Treat every request the same way a professional studio would treat a paying client: confirm the brief, communicate proactively, and get sign-off before production. The staff member's satisfaction is part of the grade.

🎯 Today's Big Question

📈 By the End of Today, You Will Be Able To

  1. Present a draft to the requesting staff member clearly and professionally.
  2. Record specific, actionable feedback rather than vague impressions.
  3. Revise the work based on that feedback and obtain final sign-off before production.

🧰 What You'll Need

📋 Your Plan for Today

Day 1: Present & Log Feedback

  1. Do Now (5 min): how would you professionally respond to vague feedback? Mini-lesson (8 min): how to present a draft and log feedback professionally -- this is the same "I notice / I wonder" habit built back in 9th/10th grade critique and rehearsed all through Grade 11's client projects, now running for real.
  2. Independent/team work (27 min): present the draft to the client (in person or via a shared link/email) and log their feedback specifically and completely.
  3. Debrief (5 min).

Day 2: Revise & Sign-Off

  1. Do Now (5 min): what's one piece of feedback you're addressing today? Independent/team work (35 min): revise based on the logged feedback -- a real client asking for changes to a first draft isn't a sign anything went wrong; it's the job.
  2. Confirm sign-off (5 min): get final sign-off from the client before moving to production.
